Boats in the fog

I photographed these boats floating in the fog on Barnegat Bay, Long Beach Island, New Jersey.
When I first arrived at the bay the sky was clear and I could see for miles. but soon after, this thick, pea soup fog rolled in. It was so quite and erie all I could hear was the sound of the bay lapping at the shore.

I love the meditative serene feeling of these Two photographs. Whenever I look at them I can remember exactly how I felt, standing there at the bay in the fog.

One tree

This is A tree I have photographed several times. It stands alone high atop a hill in a cow field. The following Three photographs were made in 2007 on Two separate shoots. The first Two were made on a rainy overcast day, and the third on a day with a dramatic Blue sky and billowy white clouds. I will visit it again soon, now that the leaves are off the trees, hopefully to time it when the cows are on the hill.

Black and White Photograph - Tree with sheep

This photograph was made in the spring of 2007. I decided to go out and try some cloudy day infrared. I made several good photographs that day and this is one of my favorites. I love the simple composition and I loved the shape of the tree. This photograph was made at the Howell Living History Farm, Titusville, New Jersey

Welcome

Welcome,
I created this blog to share with you, my Black and White photography inspired by nature. I will start with a series of photographs made this summer of my daughter on one of our explorations. I have titled the series "The Giving Tree" and I have written a few words to accompany the photographs. I hope you enjoy

"The Giving tree"

When I was A child, wild and free.
I discovered the beauty, of a wonderful tree.

Shelter under your branches, on A warm spring day.
Among your roots, for hours I'd play.

Together we grew, we reached for the stars.
You shared my smiles, you healed my scars.

You watched over me, protective it seemed.
While I read my books, and I dreamed my dreams.

When I was A child, wild and free.
I discovered the beauty, of a wonderful tree.

Standing tall, growing wild.
A tree that was blessed, by the love of a child.
